FAQ

How do you start Quick Hand's Request in Phantom Blade Zero?
The bridge to Pangzhen collapses early in the story, diverting you through Crimson Forest. Free Quick Hand Zhang from his cell there and the tale begins.
What do you get for Quick Hand Zhang's treasures?
Each region's set pays a reward: the Flying Dagger Phantom Edge, Fine Thread accessory, Goldblaze Phantom Edge, Sha-Chi Blood Catalyst medicine, and the Thundermoon Lantern accessory.
Is Quick Hand's Request required for endings?
It is side content, but thorough completion feeds the endings system — and the Flying Dagger is a genuinely useful ranged Phantom Edge.

Quick Hand Zhang’s treasure hunt spans five regions of the Phantom World

How the Questline Works

Quick Hand’s Request begins in Crimson Forest. Early in the story, the bridge to Pangzhen collapses and you are forced along the long route through the forest — where you find Quick Hand Zhang locked in a cell. Free him, and he tells you to meet him in a cave up ahead. From that point, Zhang keeps appearing in new regions, asking you to recover treasures in exchange for rewards. The tale follows you through most of the campaign, making it one of Phantom Blade Zero’s most rewarding side threads alongside the true ending chains.

Crimson Forest Treasures (Reward: Flying Dagger Phantom Edge)

  • Sect Leader’s Snuff Bottle — Use the Crimson Forest Crank near the Outlaw Trap Bell, descend the ladder, then take the upper path on your right to a green chest.
  • Bloodstained Seal — From the Thieves’ Camp Bell, follow the main path to a cave where an enemy rings a bell to summon dogs. The treasure is in the same room.
  • Ancient Crossbow — Inside the Thieves’ Camp Dungeon; you will need the dungeon key.

Village of Lu Treasures (Reward: Fine Thread Accessory)

  • Wedding Candles — From the Well of the Three Puppets Bell, head left into a building with a powerful Puppet. Defeat it, climb the ladder, and open the chest at the end of the puppet-filled room on the left.
  • Unveiled Statue — From the Lady Grounds Bell, walk toward the harmless staring Puppets and climb the nearby path to the green chest.
  • White Jade Twins — Next to the Survivors’ Courtyard Bell, look for a rope descending into a small cave.

Pangzhen Treasures (Reward: Goldblaze Phantom Edge)

  • Tiger Paperweight — Inside Tianxiang Pavilion; its key comes from the Star Performer quest.
  • Ink Stick — After defeating Wu Xuan, continue straight and up the stairs; the chest is in a house past the Puppets.
  • Carved-edge Inkstone — After ziplining down from the Narrow Alley Residence second floor, enter the house on your left (a Memory Flower is there too).
  • Jade Brush Rest — Use You Loong’s Deluge on the fire south of the Marketplace Bell, then climb the rooftops.

Meigu Lake Treasures (Reward: Sha-Chi Blood Catalyst Medicine)

  • Blue Blossom Compass — Far east corner of the Blackwater Crew Dock.
  • Blight Astrolabe — Inside the Phantom Illusionist Ruins.
  • Sundial of Impermanence — Deeper in the Phantom Illusionist Ruins, past the fifth Bell.

Mirage Estate Treasures (Reward: Thundermoon Lantern Accessory)

  • General’s Bronze Mirror — After the Yuding, No.12 boss fight, clear the enemies beyond and check the building on the right.
  • Gold-And-Silver Sachet — Inside the Opera House; you will need the Opera Ticket.
  • Golden Cloud-Moon Hairpin — After Leng Tu’s Study Bell, defeat the nearby enemies and open the chest.

Rewards Breakdown

Region Reward
Crimson Forest Flying Dagger (Phantom Edge)
Village of Lu Fine Thread (Accessory)
Pangzhen Goldblaze (Phantom Edge)
Meigu Lake Sha-Chi Blood Catalyst (Medicine)
Mirage Estate Thundermoon Lantern (Accessory)

The Flying Dagger and Goldblaze are the standouts — extra Phantom Edges mean more R2 options in combat. Medicine and accessories round out the Soul Tempering economy.

Tips

  • Turn in region by region. Zhang moves as the story progresses; hand in each set the moment you finish it rather than hoarding.
  • Several treasures sit behind traversal or quest gates. The Tianxiang Pavilion key, the Opera Ticket, and You Loong’s Deluge all come from other Pangzhen activities — clear the city’s side tales together.
  • Check every Bell. Most treasure routes in this guide start from a Bell; if you have not unlocked it yet, that is your first objective.
